Chairmen's Messages
I am pleased to welcome you to this inaugural collaborative meeting organized by the Association Marocaine de Psycho-Addictologie (AMPA) Africa and Middle East Congress on Addiction (AMECA), and the International network of Psycho-Addictology. The theme for this year conference is “Addiction and Comorbidity: Biopsychosocial Mechanisms.”
The goal for this AMECA/AMPA partnership is to provide a venue to gather researchers and clinicians from addiction and mental health fields including those from medicine, psychology, psychiatry, public health, and related fields in the continent of Africa and the Middle East.
This focused remote program includes a rich agenda with plenary sessions and a list of excellent presentations by trainees. Attendants will be scientists and clinicians from the region. This provides junior attendees outstanding opportunities for networking and developing research and training collaborations.
I would like to express my thanks to our partners and to Dr. Ismail Rammouz and the organizing committee for their dedication and persistence in making this remote conference a reality.

Nous sommes heureux de vous annoncer la tenue du troisième congrès du réseau international de Psycho-Addictologie.
Le thème retenu est « addiction et comrobidité : mécanismes biopsychosociaux »
Plus que jamais, nous avons besoin de nous retrouver, fut-ce encore, pour un certains temps, en distanciel. Cette pandémie nous a éloignés les uns des autres, mais elle n’a pas coupé nos liens qui se sont maintenus.
Cette année, nous revenons plus forts que jamais et notre congrès fait plus que résister. Il s’agrandit et se renforce, en accueillant nos amis d’AMECA dont l’apport sera à ne pas en douter, considérable en faveur de notre manifestation.
Plus précisément, face à l’augmentation de la fréquence des comorbidités, des tentatives ont été réalisées et des propositions ont été faites pour prendre en charge ce phénomène. Seulement voilà, nous sommes toujours pratiquement, au point de départ. Tant que l’appréhension de cette comorbidité ne tient pas compte de ces multiples interactions qui sous-tendent cette problématique, nous serons toujours en position d’échec face à des patients en situations cliniques inextricables. Réagir différemment, proposer une autre façon d’aborder le sujet est le sens même de ce congrès dont l’objectif est de réunir des experts internationaux, francophones et anglophones, psychiatres et/ou addictologues, dotés d’expertises et d’expériences différentes de nature à enrichir les débats et la production de certaines recommandations. La thématique choisie va dans ce sens, privilégiant ainsi, une compréhension globale d’un phénomène complexe. Mais, cela ne sera pas suffisant si le côté scientifique n’est pas assorti de propositions en direction d’une réorganisation des soins. Un enjeu de taille !
Dés la première édition de notre congrès à Marrakech en 2017, nous avons vu à quel point un cadre fédérateur et organisateur de tous ces mouvements progressistes est indispensable. En effet, des obstacles se dressent encore sur le chemin menant à la mise en pratique de solutions novatrices et adaptées aux besoins réels et multiples de nos patients. Et c’est ainsi, que nous avons collectivement, opté pour ce concept de psycho-addictologie dont la pertinence se vérifie chaque jour.
